The CEGEP program is a publicly funded program in Quebec with seeks to offer a smoother transition between secondary and tertiary education. The program starts after eleventh grade and lasts two to three years. The 2 year program prepares students to enter uni and the three year program helps students specialize in certain skills to directly enter the workforce. Quebec has managed to keep the cost of CEGEP low and completing the CEGEP program is necessary for most entry-level jobs.

But Piranesi, while alone, is not afraid; he understands the tides as he understands the pattern of the labyrinth itself. He lives to explore the house. One day, a woman arrives in the house and explains to Piranesi he was kidnapped from "the real world" where he has a family and friends, and he was imprisoned within the house, eventually forgetting who he was. The woman, a police officer, offers to take Piranesi home. She is leaving before she also loses her memories, so it is a one-time offer.
